Review:
From Tom Blomquist-Executive Producer of Catherine Marshall’s Christy and Author of Silent Partners and Eye of the Storm: “In the tradition of Catherine Marshall’s classic novel Christy, Patricia Ann Ledford paints elegant word pictures that share her pages with well-defined characters moving through an epic story. In particular, the title character of Hope O’Connor in Strings-The Story of Hope, is most compelling as she summons her faith and determination to survive despite the many challenges that confront her. This is a powerful and authentic work of historical fiction that stays with you long after the reading is done. Strings-The Story of Hope is a compelling historical romance novel.

Patricia Ann Ledford’s early political career evolved into copywriting, managing marketing campaigns, working on film projects, & producing television programming. As Tennessee’s first film commissioner, she expanded the state's film industry rank to 4th nationally. Following her commission tenure, she crewed on award-winning productions. Public service includes The White House Advance staff & senior staff w/ 2 governors/2 U.S. senators & board service on The Sinking Creek Film Festival/Nashville Film Festival. After 40 years writing professionally, she achieved a life-long goal of writing her own stories. Her debut novel Strings-The Story of Hope is set in East Tennessee and Western North Carolina. The story's beginning is based on actual historical events. In July, 1776 Dragging Canoe and his warriors attacked an East Tennessee settlement and militia forces retaliated by destroying a Cherokee village. 15- year-old Anna Hope O'Connor is pushed out of her burning home. Now, all she has is her horse Isaiah and her own weapon -- a sling much like the one David used to slay Goliath. Things get worse before they get better. Strings of hurtful events quickly destroy Hope's innocence. But Hope's strong faith carries her forward. 17-year-old Maska escapes his burning village clinching his grandfather's knife, seeking revenge against the next white man he sees. Determined to join Dragging Canoe's forces, Maska rides across the shaconage, mountains of blue smoke. and finally reaches Mialoquo, Dragging Canoe's base camp. Mialoquo was located near what is now Vonore, just a short ride down river from Lenoir City. While the novel is historical fiction, Hope's story is intertwined with actual historical characters and events. Pat truly enjoys telling the stories of Dragging Canoe -- especially when she can share them with local folks, those who live near Dragging Canoe's original camp
