Eleven-year-old Delia thinks her sweet dreams have come true when she is invited to leave boring-old New York and become Princess Sugarpuff, daughter to King and Queen Gumdrop of the oh-so-magical Candy Kingdom. But there is something sinister under the candy facade, and things turn sour when she learns she is a pawn in a sugary plot to overthrow the surrounding food kingdoms.
J. L. Rademacher, in full Jesse Lee Rademacher, is an American fantasy author and illustrator. In his previous lives he has worked as an animation and vfx artist for film and videogames and currently works as a professor of animation. His novel, Sugarpuff and The Land Beneath the Cake, is the first in The Sugarpuff Trilogy. It was inspired by the birth of his first daughter, and her insistence upon wearing fancy dresses, and by his sister, Julie, who always liked a pliable brother.
He insists that writing is a hobby for the time being, but if pressed, he might admit that he has several other novels in the works, beyond Sugarpuff.
