Four middle school boys, interested in the local legends surrounding a small 1950s North Dakota community, embark on an ambitious plan to get to the bottom of the unsettling stories. Local and Native American legends blend creating confusion about disturbing scenes witnessed by folks in the aspen forests. The boys find trouble after pursuing answers from young Chippewa boys from a nearby reservation. The boys still manage to seek answers despite their punishment. An old Chippewa man, and others, add clarity to the legends and eye-witness accounts of a lost little girl.
The boys decide to help the old Chippewa man find his boyhood home in the aspen forest. They also learn of buried money and other links to the legend. They get what they are asking for and maybe more. The boys discover a huge truth in their endeavors, but bragging rights must be abandoned for the protection of a few.

Todd R. Gunderson lives in Cleveland TN. He has been writing books since 2018 and has a four-book series out called “The Willow City Boys” and a Christian Teen book called “From Tangled Roots”.

These boys solve local mysteries in unorthodox ways getting in to trouble along the way. “From Tangled Roots” follows the life of a 17 year girl named Carrie. Ready to graduate from high school, Carrie is in search mode for direction. Making many mistakes through the year, Carrie learns that the mistakes have guided her to a wonderful solution, and she receives a gift of a lifetime that could not have been imagined.
Todd is married with 4 wonderful grown children and several pets. He has a woodworking business called Gunderson Woodworks. He has been teaching for 28 years and teaches writing in a public school.
His goal is to write wholesome books for middle and high school students that are clean and fresh. He writes with learning in mind, so his books are filled with new and interesting adventures for all ages. Adults love to read his books as well.
