Take note of this author’s name. She’s going places. Elizabeth Anderton, author of Heroes of the Flame: Rise of Phoenix, is sixteen years old. Sixteen! This is her debut novel, but not her last. In this story, we follow Brinley Connely, so-so Sophomore student with a so-so life as she is thrown into a world of magic and mystery. When Brinley finds trouble on a late-night walk she should never have been on, she is swallowed into a secret room containing two orbs of magic. One orb is blue, the other red. One is fire, one is water. Brinley chooses fire and becomes the Phoenix! Now equipped with power beyond her wildest dreams, Brinley does what most teenage girls in her time would do: she uses her powers to save people and stop the crime threatening to take over her city. But things get complicated when another villain just as powerful as Brinley steps onto the scene. And to make matters worse, this villain looks just a little bit too much like an old boyfriend . . . My favorite thing about this story was the author’s voice throughout. Voice is one of the toughest things in writing to master, and Anderton nails it! Brinley and her friends are likable, and hearing the story through their eyes is a nice adventure to say the least! With as much talent as this young author has, I recommend getting a jump on purchasing her books! She’s one to watch, and I expect to hear of even greater things to come. Find it HERE

ReviewerI am accepting submissions for reviews at this time. I am primarily interested in thrillers, suspense, magical realism, dystopians, and light sci-fi. I have a taste for the grim and love novels that make you think. Leave me haunted but hopeful. Archives
